Marjorie Taylor Greene Responds to Trump’s Iran Strikes: ‘Pray We Are Not Attacked at Home’
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) reacted to President Donald Trump’s announcement on Saturday that the U.S. had launched airstrikes on three nuclear facilities in Iran by urging Americans to pray for safety—particularly against potential retaliation on U.S. soil.
“Let us join together and pray for the safety of our U.S. troops and Americans in the Middle East,” Greene posted on X.
“Let us pray that we are not attacked by terrorists on our homeland after our border was open for the past 4 years and over 2 million gotaways came in. Let us pray for peace.”
Her statement came shortly after Trump declared the strikes successful in a Truth Social post at 7:50 p.m. Saturday:
“We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iranian air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!”
Roughly 30 minutes prior to Trump’s post, Greene had also commented on escalating tensions in the Middle East, blaming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for provoking the conflict:
“Every time America is on the verge of greatness, we get involved in another foreign war,” she wrote.
“There would not be bombs falling on the people of Israel if Netanyahu had not dropped bombs on the people of Iran first. Israel is a nuclear-armed nation. This is not our fight. Peace is the answer.”
Greene has long been critical of U.S. military involvement abroad and has consistently opposed American support for Israel during its conflicts. She voted against all three Israel aid packages following the October 7th attacks and opposed legislation aimed at expediting arms sales to Israel during the Biden administration.
Alongside Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), Greene has been among the most outspoken GOP voices pushing for U.S. non-intervention in the Israel-Iran conflict. Earlier this year, she voiced frustration with her party’s more hawkish elements:
“I represent the base,” she wrote in May. “When I’m frustrated and upset over the direction of things, you better be clear—the base is not happy.”
Greene concluded, “I campaigned for no more foreign wars. And now we are supposedly on the verge of going to war with Iran. I don’t think we should be bombing foreign countries on behalf of other foreign countries, especially when they have their own nuclear weapons and massive military strength.”
