Marjorie Taylor Greene’s boyfriend, Brian Glenn, made waves Thursday after publicly threatening to challenge a Republican congressman who voted against President Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill.”
Glenn, the chief White House correspondent for the far-right outlet Real America’s Voice, took aim at his own representative—Texas Congressman Keith Self—for opposing Trump’s sweeping legislation.
“I think Keith Self was only concerned about himself in all of this,” Glenn said during a broadcast. “By the way, he’s my congressman in Texas, and I sure would hope—I mean, I wouldn’t want to throw my hat in the ring to primary Mr. Keith Self in 2026… Not saying I’m going to do that, but I’m just saying—”
Before Glenn could finish, host Gina Loudon jumped in: “Did we just hear an announcement? Listen to that!”
Appearing momentarily caught off guard, Glenn quickly tried to walk it back: “I’m just saying I want him to represent House District 3 properly.”
Later that night on X (formerly Twitter), Glenn continued teasing the idea of a political run, writing:
“Wow, for a hot minute there last night I thought I’d be forced to run in TX-3 and challenge Keith Self after his initial ‘no vote’ on the BBB.”
He added, “I wonder if I would get any significant endorsements?”—a likely reference to Trump and Greene.
Congressman Self Under Fire
Rep. Keith Self, who entered Congress in 2023, has drawn attention for his hardline positions and inflammatory remarks, including referring to transgender lawmaker Sarah McBride as “the gentleman from Delaware” and quoting Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels on the House floor.
Self has been a vocal critic of the Senate version of Trump’s megabill, calling it “morally and fiscally bankrupt” for not advancing the conservative agenda far enough.
Greene’s Flip-Flop
Ironically, Glenn’s girlfriend, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, also expressed concerns about the bill—not for being too moderate, but for including a provision limiting future regulation of artificial intelligence. Greene later admitted she hadn’t read the full bill when she voted for it and retroactively declared herself “adamantly OPPOSED” to that section.
However, once the AI language was removed, Greene returned to supporting the bill.
Trump’s Struggle for Party Unity
Trump has spent recent weeks pressuring GOP lawmakers to fall in line behind the legislation, which still awaits a final vote in the House. The bill has exposed deep divisions among Republicans, with some opposing it as too moderate and others balking at the scale of its cuts or political trade-offs.
While Glenn has yet to officially declare a campaign, his comments and social media posts have stirred speculation—and added to the political drama unfolding around Trump’s legislative agenda.
