Michelle Obama has once again addressed ongoing speculation about her marriage to former President Barack Obama — and she’s making it clear: the rumors are false.

Speaking on NPR’s Wild Card podcast with Rachel Martin, the former First Lady responded directly to persistent chatter suggesting she and Barack are headed for divorce. “The fact that people don’t see me going out on a date with my husband sparks rumors of the end of our marriage — I mean, it’s the apocalypse,” she said with a laugh.

Michelle emphasized that just because the public doesn’t see everything doesn’t mean something is wrong. “We’re in our 60s — we’re not posting selfies or documenting every moment on Instagram,” she said. “You’re not going to know what we’re doing every minute of the day.”

She also shared a funny moment between the couple. “Barack was joking, saying, ‘You don’t even take pictures of anything we do.’ And I told him, ‘I’m not thinking about a picture!’”

This isn’t the first time Michelle has spoken out against the rumors. On The Diary of a CEO podcast with Steven Bartlett, she previously said that “everyone would know” if they ever decided to separate and dismissed the speculation as baseless. In another interview, she noted that some people simply “can’t fathom” her doing things independently without assuming there’s trouble at home.

Michelle and Barack met in 1988 while working at a Chicago law firm — she was his mentor. They married in 1992 and have two daughters: Malia, born in 1998, and Sasha, born in 2001. Their relationship has endured the pressures of public life, including Barack’s two terms as president, which Michelle has admitted put a strain on their marriage.

Still, despite the spotlight and the occasional tabloid chatter, the Obamas remain a united front. Michelle’s message is simple: just because you don’t see them together every day doesn’t mean they’re apart.
