A young boy was safely rescued from the monorail tracks at Hersheypark in Pennsylvania after getting separated from his parents.
The child was reported missing around 5:05 p.m. local time on Saturday, Aug. 30, according to a Hersheypark spokesperson. He had wandered away from his mother and later snuck into the monorail station, which was not operating at the time. The boy stayed in the area for about 20 minutes before climbing onto the monorail tracks.
“The ride was closed and secured with a chained closure at the entrance and a barricaded turnstile at the platform,” the Hersheypark spokesperson said.

“Our team members immediately responded after spotting him on the tracks, and at approximately 5:28 p.m., the child was safely reunited with his family. He was unharmed,” the spokesperson added.
In a video posted on YouTube, the boy looked confused as he walked along the elevated tracks, while a group of visitors watched from below. Guests could be seen waving their arms, signaling the child to move toward a nearby building.
A man was also seen standing on the roof of the structure with his arms outstretched toward the boy. “Go to him now!” one person shouted, before the man jumped onto the tracks and lifted the boy, leading to cheers from the crowd.
“We are grateful for the vigilance of our guests and the swift response of our team, and we remain committed to maintaining the highest levels of guest safety throughout Hersheypark,” the spokesperson told PEOPLE.
