Mom and 1-Year-Old Son Disappear Just Hours After Talking to Family. They’ve Been Missing for Over a Week

A mother and her baby have been reported missing after they were last seen more than a week ago.

Geraldina Peguero-Mancebo, 30, and her 1-year-old son, Jeyden Peguero, were last spotted near North 5th Street in Reading City, Pennsylvania, around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, according to a missing endangered person advisory released by police.

Authorities said the two are considered “endangered” and “may be at special risk of harm or injury.”

The City of Reading Police Department has not yet responded to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Heinel Miguel Medrano, Geraldina’s cousin, told WFMZ-TV, “We are very sad. Her mom is really devastated, she cannot even speak.”

Medrano said the family last spoke with Geraldina about four hours before she disappeared. He explained that it was unusual for her not to respond. “It’s completely out of character for her to just disappear out of nowhere,” he told the outlet. “We are always in conversation with each other. That’s how we realized something was wrong — we noticed the same day she wasn’t responding to any of the messages.”

Medrano also shared that Geraldina has been living in the United States for about three years and has three children who remain in the Dominican Republic.

“If you know any type of information, anything that might help about where she is or anything, we are deeply grateful with any type of information that you might give us,” he said.

According to the police bulletin, Jeyden weighs about 20 pounds and is about 2 feet tall. Geraldina is 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs around 180 pounds, and has brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue dress and has a tattoo on her right arm.
