A Florida woman who made headlines after claiming she became pregnant in jail without any physical contact has been convicted of killing the father of her two older children.
On Thursday, Oct. 16, Daisy Link, 30, was found guilty of second-degree murder in the 2022 shooting death of Pedro Jimenez, according to Local 10, CBS News, and NBC Miami. Link and Jimenez had been together for nine years and shared two children, Local 10 reported.
Link went viral in 2024 after claiming she became pregnant by another inmate, Joan DePaz, while in custody — despite having no physical contact. At the time, she was awaiting trial for Jimenez’s killing.
DePaz is also facing a murder charge, according to WSVN.
The pair claimed they connected their cells by creating a line using bed sheets and passing semen wrapped in plastic through a shared air vent. “I can’t believe it worked,” Link said in a November 2024 interview. “I think everything happened for a reason.”
When it came to Jimenez’s death, prosecutors alleged Link shot her partner during a heated argument. “This is a toxic relationship with domestic violence going back and forth,” prosecutor Alex Bergida said in court, according to Local 10. “And you know what Ms. Link did? She lit a match and lit that fire that night because she wanted this relationship to be over and this was the best way to do it.”

Defense attorney Ayuban Tomas, however, argued that Jimenez had threatened to lock Link out of their home and keep her from her children. “He made it clear that he was going to break into that home and lock her out and keep her away from her children, which he had no right to do,” Tomas said, insisting Link had “every right to use deadly force to prevent him from doing that.”
According to CBS News, the jury deliberated for less than two hours before returning a guilty verdict. Local 10 reported that Link showed no emotion as the decision was read in court.
Juror Kenan Bowie later explained his reasoning for voting to convict, telling Local 10, “If he’s running away, shot in the back, [it] doesn’t seem like self-defense if he’s running away. There was a lot that she lied about, a lot from the second she called 911.”
Link’s baby, born while she was incarcerated, is reportedly being cared for by family members, per Local 10.
The court has scheduled a pre-sentencing hearing for Nov. 21, CBS News reported.
