The coroner’s report said Spencer was shot seven times, including in his head.

Investigators say the killings occurred around dawn on Dec. 30, about two weeks after the couple’s fifth wedding anniversary. The couple’s two children—ages 3 and 1—were found physically unharmed a few feet from their parents’ bodies.

Monique’s ex-husband, Michael McKee, a 39-year-old surgeon in Illinois, was arrested days later and charged in connection with the deaths. Authorities allege McKee drove roughly 900 miles to the couple’s residence the night of the killings.

McKee was arrested on Jan. 10 near his workplace in Illinois and later extradited to Ohio. He has been charged with four counts of aggravated murder and one count of aggravated robbery, and has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
