An Arizona sheriff investigating the reported kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie says authorities are not ruling out the possibility that more than one suspect was involved.

Nancy, 84, was last seen on Jan. 31, and investigators believe she was taken during the night of Feb. 1. Authorities say surveillance footage shows an armed man appearing to tamper with her doorbell camera.

The FBI has described the unidentified person as a male, approximately 5’9” to 5’10” tall, with an average build. In the footage, the person is also seen wearing a black 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack.

On Thursday, Feb. 19, a spokesperson for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said investigators are considering whether the person captured on video may have had an accomplice.

“The sheriff has said all along that while investigators are working to identify the person seen on doorbell video, they are not ruling out that that was the only person involved,” the spokesperson said.

A large-scale search for Nancy remains underway. Sheriff Chris Nanos has said he hopes she is alive and added that he has not seen evidence indicating otherwise, according to the spokesperson.

The FBI is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to Nancy’s recovery or an arrest. The reward increased on Wednesday, Feb. 18, after officials confirmed that 88-CRIME received an anonymous donation.
