Pritzker Demands Noem Resign or Face Impeachment After Minneapolis ICE Shooting — “They’re Breaking Their Own Protocols”

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker appeared on CNN’s State of the Union to address a series of incidents involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP), including the fatal shooting of a woman by an ICE agent in Minneapolis.

Pritzker said the events reflect what he described as repeated breakdowns in federal law-enforcement conduct and adherence to internal rules. He pointed to other recent shootings involving federal agents, including incidents reported in Portland and elsewhere, and argued that ICE and CBP personnel have violated their own protocols during enforcement actions.

The discussion followed Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s public defense of the ICE agent involved in the Minneapolis shooting. Pritzker responded by calling for Noem to step down — or face removal — and attacked the department’s messaging around the incidents.

During the interview, Pritzker said:

“Now we’re seeing it in Minneapolis. We’re seeing the shooting in Portland and elsewhere. They are ICE and CBP, are breaking their own protocols. You read them earlier, their own protocols. And not only roughing people up, but literally shooting at people and killing them, when in some cases, the U.S. citizens and they’re doing nothing wrong. So this is why I have said that the president is not following the law. Why Kristi Noem needs to resign or be impeached and why Tricia McLaughlin should not have the job that she has. She’s a pathological liar. She’s their spokesperson.”

Pritzker framed the shootings as part of a broader leadership failure at the Department of Homeland Security, accusing officials of enabling misconduct and misrepresenting what happened during enforcement operations.
