The Real Housewives of Potomac stars Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie Osefo, have released a statement following their arrests on Thursday, October 9.
“Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and in good spirits,” a representative for the couple said in an October 10 statement. “They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans, and colleagues.”
The statement added that the couple “look forward to their day in court” and “respectfully ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead.”
According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, the pair posted bond on October 10 and have since been released.
The reality star, 41, and her husband face 16 charges, seven of which are felonies connected to alleged “false/misleading information fraud” exceeding $300, the Westminster Police Department confirmed. The couple was booked in Westminster, Maryland, on October 9, with TMZ first reporting the news.
In a press release issued on October 10, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office detailed that deputies responded to a report of burglary and theft on April 7, 2024. When officers arrived at the Osefos’ home, the couple claimed that numerous valuables were stolen while they were on vacation — including 80 pieces of jewelry, designer goods, clothing, and shoes valued at more than $200,000.

Investigators later discovered that over $20,000 worth of those allegedly stolen items had been returned by the owners to the original retailers. They also found images showing one of the homeowners wearing jewelry previously reported stolen after the alleged burglary occurred.
Court documents obtained by TMZ indicate prosecutors claim the couple submitted an insurance claim for a personal property loss totaling $450,000.
On October 9, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Wendy and Eddie were taken into custody and “charged with multiple counts related to fraud.”
The couple joined The Real Housewives of Potomac in its fifth season and were slated to appear in Bravo’s upcoming spinoff series, Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition. The premiere, originally set for October 14, has been postponed to October 21 and will no longer debut with Wendy’s episode as initially planned.
Wendy and Eddie, who share three children — Karter, 12, Kruz, 10, and Kamrynn, 6 — recently celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary in August.
A former Johns Hopkins University professor, Wendy holds multiple advanced degrees and became the first Black woman to earn a Ph.D. in Public Affairs–Community Development from Rutgers University (Camden). She is also a frequent political commentator on cable news. Eddie, an attorney, is the founder and CEO of the cannabis brand Happy Eddie.
