Romy Reiner, the daughter of slain actor-director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, did not realize her mother was also dead inside the family’s Los Angeles home when she discovered her father’s body, according to a new report.
Romy, 27, arrived at Rob and Michele’s Brentwood residence on the afternoon of Sunday, Dec. 14, after a massage therapist reportedly contacted her because they were unable to access the property, The New York Times reported.
After entering the home and finding her father, Romy allegedly fled the house without knowing that Michele’s body was also inside, the outlet reported.
A source close to the family told The New York Times that Romy later learned of Michele’s death from a paramedic.
Romy discovered Rob’s body Sunday afternoon, hours before her brother, Nick, was located by police and arrested near the University of Southern California campus at about 9:15 p.m. that evening. Nick was not at the home at the time Romy arrived.

Romy is the youngest of Rob and Michele’s three children. The couple also share sons Nick, 32, and Jake, 34.
On Tuesday, Dec. 16, Nick was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, along with a special allegation of using a knife, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said in a press release. If convicted, he faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman has not ruled out the possibility that his office could pursue the death penalty in the case.
In a statement, Hochman called the prosecution of alleged family violence “heart-wrenching,” describing the killings as “shocking and tragic,” and said his office would pursue “justice and accountability for the lives that were taken.”
