A passenger aboard Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas sustained injuries after a water slide malfunction caused an acrylic glass panel to break mid-ride.

The incident occurred on Thursday, Aug. 7, according to ABC News, when the panel shattered as the man traveled through the slide. While his identity has not been disclosed, reports indicate he is in stable condition.

Footage captured by Jim Muldoon and shared with CBS News shows water pouring out of the damaged section as nearby passengers shouted, “Stop the slide!”

In a statement to PEOPLE, Royal Caribbean Group confirmed:

“Our team provided medical care to an adult guest when acrylic glass broke off a water slide as the guest passed through the slide. The guest is being treated for his injuries.”

The company did not share details about the severity of the injuries but noted the slide would remain closed for the rest of the voyage while an investigation is conducted.

The cruise is scheduled to return to Miami by Saturday, according to CBS News.

This latest incident follows a separate event on July 27, when another Icon of the Seas passenger fell over the glass railing of an infinity pool. PEOPLE previously reported the man had been reaching for his sunglasses when he lost his balance. Video posted by Only in Florida showed him tipping over the edge before falling into the pool gutter.
