Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus got a quick reality check on the road while rushing to their next stop.
On Tuesday, Dec. 23, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy spotted Santa driving too fast in Fulton County, Ohio.
“Santa and Mrs. Claus were spotted flying a little too fast through Fulton County,” the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a news release, alongside body camera footage.
As the deputy approached the vehicle, he immediately recognized the driver and laughed, calling out, “Santa!” He then explained that Santa had been going over the 55 mph speed limit and asked for his driver’s license.
When Santa stepped out to retrieve it, the deputy joked, “There goes my presents!” Mrs. Claus, riding in the passenger seat, could be seen laughing.

Santa was ultimately given a warning. The deputy told him, “Santa! Slow your speed,” and Santa shot back, “I call Rudolph on you.”
“It’s Nick you know,” Mrs. Claus added, before snapping a photo of Santa and the deputy together. As they wrapped up, she handed the deputy a candy cane.
“No coal was issued — just a friendly reminder that even sleighs need to slow down,” the Facebook post read. “Christmas is still on schedule! 🎄✨. Stay safe and happy holidays!”
