So much for a sweeping show of resistance.
Only a few hundred protesters turned out in Downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday for what organizers promoted as a major “Free America Walkout” aimed at President Donald Trump’s second term.
“Has protest fatigue officially hit Los Angeles?” one commenter posted on X, claiming organizers “can barely get a couple of hundred people” to march in opposition to Trump-related issues.
The walkout was staged across multiple locations in Southern California and was promoted as a nationwide action urging people to leave work, school, and shops at 2 p.m. Organizers had hoped for a turnout in the thousands.
Participants said the protest targeted Trump administration policies, citing concerns ranging from “ICE raids on our communities” and “troops occupying our cities” to “families torn apart,” “attacks on our trans siblings,” “mass surveillance,” and “terror used to keep us silent.”
In Los Angeles, the crowd gathered outside City Hall before marching through parts of Downtown. Police monitored the procession closely.
Additional groups were reported in Burbank, Pasadena, Venice, Santa Monica, and Long Beach.
As of Tuesday, no arrests had been reported.
