The Trump administration announced on Wednesday that it is teaming up with Turning Point USA and more than 40 other organizations to promote civics education for young people.
Groups in the American 250 Civics Education Coalition include conservative organizations such as PragerU, Hillsdale College, Moms for Liberty, and the America First Policy Institute.
The Department of Education called this a “landmark initiative” dedicated to renewing patriotism, strengthening civic knowledge, and helping students understand America’s founding principles in schools across the country.
The initiative was introduced on “Constitution Day” as the Trump administration prepares to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary next year.

With guidance from Education Secretary Linda E. McMahon, the program aims to encourage discussions about citizenship and American values. McMahon said that young people need to understand American history and what makes the country unique.
“As America approaches 250 years since its founding, we are proud to announce this coalition to ensure every young American understands the beauty of our nation and has the civic knowledge needed to contribute to its future,” McMahon said.
“A country cannot survive if its values are forgotten by its people. More than ever, we need to restore the vitality of the American spirit, and this coalition will take bold steps to educate, inspire, and mobilize youth toward active and informed citizenship.”

One of the partners, Turning Point USA, is working through its education branch, Turning Point Education.
“Turning Point USA, which includes Turning Point Education, is more committed than ever to promoting God-centered, virtuous education for students across the nation,” said Dr. Hutz H. Hertzberg, chief education officer of Turning Point Education.
Turning Point USA has been in the news this month following the assassination of its founder, Charlie Kirk, at Utah Valley University. The organization announced that Kirk’s wife, Erika, will serve as the new CEO and chair of the board.
Since the assassination, Turning Point USA says it has received more than 60,000 new requests to start high school and college chapters.
