If you listen to Donald Trump long enough, he’ll eventually reveal the truth—just not on purpose.
That’s exactly what happened during a July 8 Cabinet meeting when Trump jumped in to field a question directed at Attorney General Pam Bondi about Jeffrey Epstein.
Epstein, once a Trump associate, pleaded guilty to soliciting minors in 2008 and died by suicide in federal custody in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges—during Trump’s first term.
Now, Trump’s MAGA base is reeling after Bondi’s Justice Department issued a memo debunking two major conspiracy theories that Trump-world has clung to for years: that Epstein was murdered, and that he left behind a secret “client list” of elites he supposedly blackmailed. The memo said neither claim is true.
So when Trump interrupted the question at the Cabinet meeting, he did what he does best—accidentally undercut his own narrative.
With performative outrage, he snapped, “Are people still talking about this guy, this creep? That is unbelievable.”
And there it is: Trump’s accidental admission. If his tone is to be believed, even he knows that nothing his administration says about Epstein can be taken seriously.
He kept going. “Pam answering that would be a waste of time,” he added—another unintentional moment of clarity. Because what followed was, indeed, a waste of time.
Bondi then tried to walk back her own previous comments, including a February appearance on Fox News where she claimed Epstein’s “client list” was sitting on her desk and that she was reviewing it at Trump’s direction. Now, according to her office, that list doesn’t exist.
Unbelievable? Exactly.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk—another former Trump ally turned enemy—isn’t letting this go. In a since-deleted June 5 post on X (formerly Twitter), Musk claimed Trump was “in the Epstein files,” which is “the real reason they haven’t been made public.”
That accusation reignited their feud, which had briefly cooled. I even predicted in a July 2 column that Musk would eventually use Epstein to troll Trump—and that’s exactly what happened. Musk hasn’t stopped posting since.
What we’re witnessing is a full-on information war. Musk is using Epstein to needle Trump. Trump, in turn, is pretending to be shocked anyone still cares.
But here’s what’s really shocking: Trump’s evasions, Bondi’s backtracking, and the fact that even Trump’s supporters are starting to question what he’s hiding.
Because when it comes to Jeffrey Epstein, the most telling truth may be the one Trump lets slip when he thinks no one’s paying attention.
