Michael Cohen, once Donald Trump’s personal lawyer and self-described “fixer,” has issued a sharp warning to Elon Musk as the billionaire’s feud with the former president deepens.
The former Trump insider cautioned Musk that going to war with Trump comes at a steep price—and he’s seen it firsthand.
“@elonmusk I told you this would happen,” Cohen wrote on X. “If you want to know how to fight political guerrilla warfare, DM me! Otherwise, you lose.”
Cohen’s message comes after Musk publicly slammed Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” and suggested Republicans wouldn’t have won in 2024 without his influence. Musk also took aim at Trump’s alleged ties to the Epstein files and has since announced the creation of his own political force—the America Party—further straining their already tense relationship.
‘It’s Never About You—It’s About Trump’
Cohen, who served time for campaign finance violations and tax fraud, didn’t mince words about how Trump treats allies—warning Musk not to expect loyalty or leniency.
“Let me make something crystal clear: No one—not Bannon, not Jared, not Rudy, not me, and definitely not Elon—has ever been more important to Trump than Trump,” Cohen said.
“The ‘bromance’ is never about you. It’s about what he can extract from you—your loyalty, your power, your credibility, your money. And when it’s over, it’s not just over. It’s scorched earth.”
Cohen added that Musk made the classic mistake of assuming he was “untouchable,” not realizing Trump now wields the full power of the federal government.
‘They’re Going to Go After Elon Like Never Before’
In a separate interview on MSNBC, Cohen told host Ali Velshi that Musk is likely underestimating how far Trump’s camp will go to destroy him politically.
“They’re going to really go after Elon Musk like nobody has seen, ever, in this country—because they can,” Cohen said.
“And one thing Elon doesn’t understand is this political guerrilla warfare they’re going to conduct against him.”
As Trump and Musk continue exchanging blows—political, personal, and financial—Cohen’s warning stands as a reminder from someone who once stood inside Trump’s inner circle: loyalty is transactional, and Trump always collects.
