The Trump White House has fired back at The View and co-host Joy Behar following remarks she made suggesting President Donald Trump is “jealous” of former President Barack Obama.

After Behar made the claim on the July 23 episode, White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers issued a scathing statement calling Behar “an irrelevant loser” and accusing the daytime talk show of “plummeting ratings.”

“Joy Behar is an irrelevant loser suffering from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome,” Rogers said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly. “The View has hit rock bottom in ratings, and Behar should take a hard look at her own bitterness toward President Trump’s historic popularity before her show is the next to be pulled off the air.”

The pointed remarks come amid President Trump’s broader public campaign against what he calls “talentless” late-night and daytime hosts. He recently praised the cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, calling it “long overdue,” and predicted that Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon would be “next to go.”

A representative for The View responded to the White House’s claim, pushing back forcefully: “Season to date, The View is ranked No. 1 in households and total viewers among all network daytime talk shows and news programs for the fifth consecutive season.”

Behar’s comments came during a segment in which the hosts reacted to Trump’s latest allegations against Obama, whom he accused of “treason” and trying to “lead a coup”—a claim Trump called “irrefutable.”

Behar, clearly fed up, shot back: “Who tried to overthrow the government on January 6? That wasn’t Obama. The thing about [Trump] is that he’s so jealous of Obama—because Obama is everything he is not: trim, smart, handsome, happily married, and can sing Al Green better than Al Green himself. And Trump can’t stand it. It’s driving him crazy.”

The back-and-forth follows a pattern of Trump targeting media figures critical of him. His Truth Social post from July 22 doubled down: “The word is, and it’s a strong word at that, Jimmy Kimmel is NEXT to go in the untalented Late Night Sweepstakes and, shortly thereafter, Fallon will be gone. These are people with absolutely NO TALENT… It’s really good to see them go, and I hope I played a major part in it!”

CBS recently said the decision to cancel The Late Show was purely financial and “not related in any way to the show’s performance, content or other matters.”

The fate of The View remains to be seen, but Trump’s allies have made clear that the administration won’t hesitate to take aim at media figures who mock or criticize the president.
