A bride was allegedly punched in the face by one of her wedding guests during her special day.
John Cianci of Mercer County, Pennsylvania, has been charged with assault and other crimes connected to the incident, according to a criminal complaint obtained by CBS News.
The wedding took place on Friday, Aug. 29, at The Woods at Eisler Farms in Connoquenessing Township, Butler County. Police said Cianci became “extremely angry and violent” after staff cut him off from drinking alcohol.
A witness told investigators that Cianci struck the bride in the face with a “roundhouse” punch, knocking her to the ground.
After that, Cianci—described as “extremely irate”—allegedly punched three other guests who tried to restrain him. The criminal complaint noted that his actions injured several people and caused “public inconvenience, annoyance and alarm” to others at the wedding.
Cianci is awaiting his next court hearing. He faces four counts of simple assault, four counts of disorderly conduct, four counts of harassment, and one count of public drunkenness. He was released on $5,000 bail.
