A search is underway in the U.K. for a woman reported missing after she allegedly got into a taxi last month and has not been seen since.
Police in Cleveland, England, said 45-year-old Melanie Kett was last seen on Jan. 7. Authorities reported that Kett, who is from the town of Thornaby, was last seen when she took a taxi from Field Close in Thornaby to the Middlesbrough area.
Police said Kett has had intermittent communication with her family but has otherwise not been seen since Jan. 7. Officers said they are working to confirm that she is safe and well.
Friends and family have also shared appeals on social media asking her to get in touch.
Police are urging Kett to contact them directly if she is able, and asking anyone who has seen her or knows where she may be to call 101 and quote reference SE26023259.
