A 25-year-old woman says a tense living situation crossed a shocking line after one of her roommates allegedly took her late grandmother’s ashes to make a point.

In a post shared on Reddit, the woman explained that she lives with two roommates. She gets along with one, but has repeatedly clashed with the other — a 24-year-old she calls “S.” According to the poster, S often mocks her for being “too sentimental,” calling her “a Pinterest girlie” because she enjoys decorating her space and keeping meaningful keepsakes.

The woman said her grandmother died in 2021, and since then she has kept a small, sealed urn containing her ashes on a shelf in her bedroom.

“It’s not flashy or on display,” she wrote. “It just brings me comfort.”

But recently, she noticed the urn was gone. She said she tore through her room searching for it, growing so panicked she began to feel physically sick.

When she asked both roommates for help, one agreed. S, however, reportedly rolled her eyes and replied, “Maybe this is the universe telling you to stop living in the past.”

The comment immediately raised her suspicions. The poster said she confronted S directly, asking whether she had taken the urn. S allegedly shrugged and admitted she was “tired of my shrine vibes,” adding that “grief shouldn’t be decor.”

The woman said S refused to return it until she “learned to let go.” The poster then threatened to call the police, at which point S finally relented and retrieved the urn from her car trunk. It had been sitting loose in a grocery tote bag, she wrote.

Shaken and furious, the woman said her other roommate had to hold the urn because her hands were trembling too much. She told S her actions were unforgivable.

Now, she says, S is telling others that she “overreacted.” The poster is considering moving out and asked fellow Redditors whether she should file an official report.

“I’ve never felt so violated,” she wrote.

In the comments, many urged her to document what happened and go to the authorities, describing the roommate’s behavior as disturbing and a serious breach of trust.
