A 28-year-old woman recently shared the inspiring story of how her teenage disappearance ultimately led to a happy ending.
Roro Nicole opened up in a now-viral TikTok video about running away from her “abusive” home at just 13 years old. “I had to get away,” she said, explaining that her dad had “threatened to kill” her and her siblings.
After she escaped, Nicole said her parents “freaked out” and called the police. However, officers couldn’t locate her that night as she stayed hidden. “I knew the officers had no idea what was going on at home,” she said. “I was scared that I was going to be made to go back home, so I found a safe place to go.”
In a follow-up TikTok, Nicole revealed that when she was eventually found, she was placed into the foster care system, where she remained until turning 18.
Years later, she began working at her local sheriff’s office, where she noticed an officer named Tyler who “kept staring” at her. Toward the end of her time there, she recalled, the “nervous” officer finally approached her to strike up a conversation.
“From there, we became friends and started hanging out, talking on the regular,” Nicole said.

During one of their conversations, she opened up about running away as a teenager. When she shared details about the time and place of the incident, Tyler’s reaction stunned her.
“He said, ‘I was searching for you,’” she recalled, noting that he had actually lived nearby at the time.
“He was so surprised and didn’t know what to think,” Nicole said. “The whole situation was shocking to both of us, but I thought it was pretty cool.”
Nicole and Tyler eventually started dating and became engaged seven months later, showing off a stunning square-cut ring. The couple continues to work together at the same police department.
Addressing their 10-year age difference, Nicole insisted it’s “normal.”

In August 2024, Nicole shared the engagement news with her 1,000 Instagram followers, posting vacation photos at a picturesque beach and proudly showing off her ring. She captioned the images, “My hand feels heavier today… I wonder why. Oh, that’s right… We’re engaged!!!”
By October of that year, she posted a heartfelt tribute to Tyler, calling him her “life partner” and writing, “Thank you for giving me the love that I never thought I deserved, but that I cannot live without.”
