Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika, says she was “praying” she was pregnant in the days after her husband was killed.

Speaking with Megyn Kelly on SiriusXM’s The Megyn Kelly Show, the 36-year-old mother of two shared that she and her late husband, 31, had dreamed of a larger family — and that she hoped she might be carrying their third child after he was assassinated on Sept. 10 at Utah Valley University.

“We wanted to have four,” she told Kelly, 55. “And I was praying to God that I was pregnant when he got murdered. I was like, ‘Oh goodness, that would be the ultimate blessing out of this catastrophe.’”

Erika and Charlie are parents to a 3-year-old daughter and a 1-year-old son.

She went on to say that her experience has shaped the way she talks to young couples, especially women, about timing and family.

“Now when I see young couples, I tell them, ‘Please, like don’t put it off,’ especially if you’re a young woman, don’t put it off,” she said. “You can always have a career. You can always go back to work. You can never just go back to having children, and they grow so fast and so quickly.”

“I was praying, both of us were, we were really excited to just expand our family,” she added.

On Sept. 10, Charlie Kirk — a prominent right-wing commentator — was shot and killed at age 31 during a campus event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

President Donald Trump announced Kirk’s death in a post on Truth Social.

“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” he wrote. “No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us.”

Kirk, the founder of conservative advocacy group Turning Point USA, was appearing at his signature “Prove Me Wrong” table on the first stop of his American Comeback Tour when a shot was fired. Video from the event appeared to show him being hit in the side of the head or neck as he spoke to the crowd from under a white pop-up tent.

Although investigators did not immediately identify a suspect, authorities launched a large-scale manhunt. On Sept. 11, they arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson in connection with the shooting.

Robinson has since been charged with multiple offenses, including aggravated murder. In September, Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray announced at a press conference that prosecutors would seek the death penalty.

That same month, Erika was granted a protective order barring Robinson from attempting to contact her.
