President Donald Trump on Friday announced that he has ordered the dismissal of a top economic official, accusing her of politically motivated manipulation of employment data following the release of a disappointing jobs report.

In a post on social media, Trump claimed that Dr. Erika McEntarfer, the Commissioner of Labor Statistics and a Biden appointee, was responsible for skewing the figures to benefit Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of the election.

“I was just informed that our Country’s ‘Jobs Numbers’ are being produced by a Biden Appointee, Dr. Erika McEntarfer, the Commissioner of Labor Statistics, who faked the Jobs Numbers before the Election to try and boost Kamala’s chances of Victory,” Trump wrote.

The accusation comes amid broader criticism from Trump and his allies regarding the integrity of federal agencies under the Biden administration.
