A Texas homeowner shot and killed two masked men late Friday after they posed as police officers and opened fire on the house, according to authorities.
The Houston Police Department said officers responded to reports of gunfire in the city’s southeast side around midnight, Officer C. Jones told Fox News Digital.
Investigators said the suspects wore bulletproof vests labeled “police,” along with masks and badges around their necks, but there were no patrol cars or flashing lights. That raised the homeowner’s suspicions, Fox 26 Houston reported.
“They became suspicious because they have a Ring camera and the suspects were stating they had a warrant, but it’s just two people, and they’re masked up and no police cars, no lights or anything like that,” Lt. Khan told Fox 26.
According to police, the men began shooting into the home before the residents returned fire, killing both suspects. Officers arriving on scene attempted CPR, but the men were pronounced dead, the outlet reported.
The homeowners were not injured, Fox 26 added. Authorities have not yet released the identities of the suspects, and the investigation is ongoing.
