Two Georgia parents were killed in a devastating car crash while traveling on New Year’s Day, leaving behind three young children and a grieving community.
The collision happened on Highway 9 in Alabama near mile marker 263, about two miles north of Centre, according to local reports. Authorities said a 2020 Chevrolet Traverse driven by 26-year-old Jasmine Agan collided head-on with a 2003 Ford Explorer driven by a 16-year-old.
Jasmine and her husband, 25-year-old Thomas Agan, both suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. The teenage driver was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Thomas worked at Allatoona Diesel and Automotive in Acworth, Georgia. The couple’s three children are all 4 years old or younger.
Coworkers described Thomas as a devoted father who often spoke proudly about his kids. “Whenever he talked about his children, it was always with love,” said technician Brett Gobel, adding that Thomas frequently shared funny stories about them.
Business owner Drake Winn said one of his immediate priorities is helping secure transportation and support for the children. “I’m here to do whatever it takes to help that family,” he said.
In the days following the crash, more than $40,000 was raised through a GoFundMe campaign organized by Allatoona Diesel and Automotive. The fundraiser states that donations will go toward supporting the family and caring for Thomas and Jasmine’s children during this difficult time.
On the fundraiser page, Thomas was described as “the backbone” of the business and a source of constant positivity. Organizers wrote that he had a gift for lifting spirits, always laughing, joking, and spreading joy to everyone around him.
They added that the community hopes to surround the family with love, prayers, and support as they cope with the sudden loss.
Authorities said neither Jasmine nor Thomas was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
