BOWIE, Md. – A Bowie woman has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting and killing her husband during a domestic dispute in their Prince George’s County home, according to police.
Nicole Ward, 50, is accused of fatally shooting her husband, 53-year-old Damian Ward, in the head following an argument early Saturday morning inside their residence on Old Chapel Road.
Prince George’s County police responded to the home around 1:45 a.m. and found Damian Ward dead in the couple’s bedroom. Nicole Ward was arrested at the scene.
Charging documents indicate that the altercation began after Nicole Ward discovered photos and messages on her husband’s second phone that suggested he was having an affair. She reportedly told him to pack his bags and leave. As the argument escalated, police say she retrieved a .357 S&B Magnum revolver and shot him.
Ward has been charged with first- and second-degree murder and remains in custody without bond.
Neighbors described the couple as friendly and well-liked within their close-knit community. Many said the Wards appeared to be happily married, making the news of the shooting especially shocking.
“She was always nice, and he was a great guy,” one neighbor told FOX 5. “It’s hard to believe this happened.”
Police have not released any further details as the investigation remains ongoing.
