Tara Reid was taken out of a Rosemont, Ill., hotel on a stretcher on Nov. 23, after which she claimed a stranger had drugged her. Police now say surveillance footage does not support the allegation that her drink was tampered with.

The Rosemont Public Safety Department said on Wednesday, Dec. 3, that hotel surveillance does not show anyone drugging Reid at the DoubleTree Chicago O’Hare Airport — Rosemont.

“While video surveillance showed Tara Reid at the hotel bar, at no time did video show anyone tampering with or adding something to her drink,” police said in a statement. “We can confirm that a bartender covered her drink when she left the bar which is standard practice for bartenders to do.”

Authorities said the investigation remains open and they are still waiting for hospital records.

“We cannot, however, confirm at this time if or what specific chemical testing the hospital may have conducted,” the statement continued, noting that officials are working with Reid to obtain those records, which she has also not yet received.

“Pending those results or further information coming forward, our detectives will follow up on those leads accordingly,” the statement added. “At this time there is no criminal act that has been committed and there is no one we are currently investigating. While we do not have any evidence that a drink was tampered with, it is a good reminder to never leave a drink unattended. If you ever believe you have been drugged or feel unsafe, please reach out to local authorities.”

“Bottom line is no one ends up in the hospital incapacitated for over 8 hours after a drink,” Reid said in a statement provided by her representative. “Last thing I remember is having one drink and waking up in the hospital the next day without remembering anything. That was the scariest feeling I have ever felt. I felt so helpless. This has been a horrifying experience for me that is severely affecting my mental health. I cannot sleep over this it’s a very scary feeling not knowing what happened to me. I believe I was drugged. Something happened to me.”

According to a police report, the 50-year-old actress said she “completely blacked out” after having a drink with a stranger while staying at the DoubleTree Hotel in Rosemont for a celebrity signing on Nov. 23.

Reid said she ordered a glass of white wine at the hotel bar when “a man came up to me and introduced himself as Sean P, a very successful influencer and YouTuber,” and joined her at the bar.

They later went outside for a cigarette, during which they talked and exchanged phone numbers. Reid told police that when she returned inside, “there was a napkin over my drink.”

“Then the last thing I remember was drinking that drink and seeing a couple sitting next to us. The next thing I remember was waking up in the hospital around 8 hours or more later not knowing where I was or anything that happened. I completely blacked out with no recollection of anything,” she said.

Video obtained by TMZ appeared to show Reid unable to stand on her own as a man held her up while a woman brought over a wheelchair.

“Give her a second,” a man can be heard saying as several people gather around her. One person pulls on Reid’s coat in an attempt to guide her into the wheelchair, while the man supporting her extends his arm to signal the other to stop.

Once in the wheelchair, Reid was given bottled water but spoke incoherently as she was wheeled away. Before being moved to a stretcher, video showed her slumping, nearly falling out of the chair.

Reid’s agent later picked her up from the hospital. They returned to the hotel so she could collect her belongings, and then she flew back to Los Angeles.

Two days later, she said she tried to file a police report after returning to L.A., but was initially told she would need to be present in person and could not file over the phone. She said she was eventually allowed to submit the report without traveling back to Illinois.

Reid also alleged that the influencer she met that night “texted me the videos of me the next day,” which she viewed as an extortion attempt because he allegedly claimed he “could stop the videos [from] going out.”

She added that he confirmed she had only one drink while they were together.

In a Nov. 26 statement, the DoubleTree Chicago O’Hare Airport said that as soon as “hotel staff observed a potential health concern involving a guest, our trained security team assisted and arranged for medical support.”

“However, our hotel takes any allegation affecting guest safety very seriously and will provide appropriate information to authorities if requested,” the statement said. “The safety and security of our guests and employees is of paramount importance to us.”
