Bunnie Xo is clarifying how she and her husband, Jelly Roll, define commitment in their marriage.
In her memoir Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic, released Tuesday, Feb. 17, the Dumb Blonde podcast host reflects on what monogamy has meant to them over the years—particularly after learning in 2018 that her husband had a 10-month affair.
Bunnie writes that they have, at times, invited other women into the bedroom together, and says it “was never an issue.” She explains that she once believed being open to that kind of experience might help prevent betrayal, based on past hurt.
She adds that when they first started dating, they both resisted the idea of strict monogamy. Still, she emphasizes that their marriage is not an open relationship and that they never had an agreement allowing either of them to sleep with anyone at any time. Instead, she describes their relationship as “free, not open”—built on sexual openness in specific circumstances and, above all, honesty.

Bunnie also shares that her husband has long told her she could sleep with other men if she wanted to, something that initially stung. At first, she writes, she interpreted a lack of jealousy as a lack of love, because she expected possessiveness to signal devotion.
Jelly Roll has spoken publicly about the affair as a low point in his adult life, saying he had to put significant work into repairing their marriage and that their relationship is stronger now than it was before.

In a separate recent interview, Bunnie discussed the pain the situation caused and tied parts of her past to the way she once searched for love and validation. She said she wants to take responsibility for how she handled certain experiences, and that telling her story means sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly.
