A senior Department of Defense official has been placed on administrative leave and escorted from the Pentagon after a hidden-camera video allegedly captured him disclosing sensitive national security secrets to an undercover journalist.

Andrew Hugg, the U.S. Army’s Branch Chief for Chemical Nuclear Surety, was reportedly removed from his post this week. The action follows the release of a 14-minute video by the O’Keefe Media Group, which depicts Hugg sharing classified details regarding U.S. military operations and chemical weapon stockpiles during what he believed was a private dinner.

Grave Allegations of National Security Breaches

In the footage, Hugg appears to discuss highly sensitive geopolitical matters, including alleged U.S. military strikes in Iran. According to the recording, Hugg claimed a previous U.S. strike resulted in civilian casualties, including children, and suggested there are active plans to target Iran’s Supreme Leader.

Furthermore, Hugg allegedly confirmed that the United States remains in possession of specific nerve agents. He detailed a purported incident involving a U.S. Army chemist who reportedly died from exposure to these substances—a claim that contradicts official public records.

‘Mesmerized by Your Eyes’

While the national security implications are severe, the video has gained viral traction due to Hugg’s unprofessional conduct during the exchange. Believing he was on a date, Hugg made several flirtatious remarks to the undercover reporter.

“Your eyes have mesmerized me so much. Almost like you’re an intelligence [officer],” Hugg is heard saying in the clip. “The easiest way to get intelligence is to send a pretty girl… I have to resist your eyes.”

Despite jokingly acknowledging the possibility that he was being targeted for information, Hugg continued to speak openly about his high-level responsibilities and classified military data.

Army Confirms Investigation

U.S. Army spokesperson Cynthia O. Smith confirmed on Tuesday that Hugg has been placed on administrative leave. While the Army has not verified every claim made in the video, officials indicated that a “thorough investigation” is underway to determine the extent of any security compromise.

Pentagon sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, described the breach as a “significant failure of protocol.” They noted that Hugg’s position granted him access to critical safety and surety data regarding the nation’s most dangerous chemical and nuclear assets.

Journalistic Integrity and Verification

The O’Keefe Media Group, led by James O’Keefe, is known for using undercover “sting” tactics. While the video has prompted immediate administrative action, federal authorities have not yet filed formal criminal charges. Investigators are currently reviewing the unedited footage to cross-reference Hugg’s claims with actual classified records.

Hugg has not yet issued a public statement regarding the video or his current employment status.
