A woman who shares cleaning videos on TikTok accidentally captured a terrifying moment when someone outside her apartment started screaming for help.

TikTok creator @summerboshaw documented the unsettling incident in a 25-second video posted earlier this week.

In the clip, Summer, who lives in the Lansing, Mich., area, is seen wiping down her counters before a loud noise prompts her to pause and look around in alarm. Then the shouting begins: “Help! Help! Somebody f—ing help me. I’m in danger. I am in a lot of danger please f—ing help me. Please.” The woman’s distressed voice is clearly audible.

Summer quickly leaves the frame, and her footsteps can be heard as she moves across the apartment.

Over the video, Summer wrote, “I wanted to clean, not call 911.”

Viewers were shocked by the incident, and the viral video, which now has 1.5 million views, prompted Summer to post a separate “story time” video answering questions from commenters.

“I was cleaning my apartment and I had to call 911,” she explains. “In the video, I’m cleaning and my head turns because I hear pounding, like, really loud. So that’s when I stopped and was listening, and then I heard the woman say, ‘Get your f—ing hands off me.’ That’s when she started screaming, ‘Help, help, help me. I’m in danger.’”

Summer then describes why she decided to call the police rather than go outside herself.

“I was not going out there to help because I live in the Lansing area and I didn’t know if it was a ploy to get a woman out for sex trafficking. I also didn’t know if anybody had a gun. So I listened to everything, I looked through my peephole, I saw that it was a woman. And I called the cops,” she says.

She also points out that because she was already recording her cleaning video, she was able to show the footage to responding officers.

After the police arrived, Summer says the woman was being evaluated by EMTs and appeared “not fully all there, at all.”

In a surprising turn, Summer adds, “As I’m looking out the window, [the woman] is actually the one who got arrested.” (Police later clarified to PEOPLE that the woman was not taken to jail.)

“So, I don’t know if it was a drug-type relation… All I know is that a man was pounding on the door and that’s when she started screaming,” Summer continues, concluding the video, “So yeah, that’s how it is living in Lansing.”

The Ingham County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the incident in a statement to PEOPLE, noting that the woman “was not taken to jail” after responding to a “domestic disturbance/mental health call.”

In their statement, they added, “The female was taken to a local hospital for mental health treatment. The police report has been turned over to the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office for review of any possible criminal or assault charges. We appreciate this young lady reporting the disturbance.”

TikTok users praised Summer for her quick thinking.

“Smart to not go out there and just call the cops. Scary world,” one person wrote. Another added, “So smart to not have gone out there!! Great instincts!”

A different commenter noted, “Proud of you for not going out there. I’m in Lansing too and some weird stuff has been happening. I’m glad you did the right thing and called the cops.”
