Authorities have searched the home of Annie Guthrie as the investigation intensifies into the disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie, who is believed to be held for ransom.

As the search for Nancy, 84, continues, law enforcement officers were seen at the residence of Annie and her husband, Tommaso Cioni, late Saturday night, Feb. 7. The visit came just hours after Annie and her siblings, Savannah and Camron Guthrie, released a new video message addressed to the person believed to be responsible for their mother’s disappearance.

Annie’s property is located about four miles from Nancy’s longtime home in Tucson, where authorities believe she was taken during the night of Jan. 31.

Former CIA and FBI special agent Tracy Walder said that before searching Annie and Cioni’s home, investigators may have received consent from Annie, obtained a search warrant, or both.

Authorities, including at least one official from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD), were at the home from roughly 8 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. local time. After more than two and a half hours, an official was seen leaving the residence carrying a white suitcase and a brown bag, while another officer appeared to be wearing blue gloves.

According to Walder, the white case was likely used for evidence processing, while the brown bag was intended for collected materials. She described the movement of officers in and out of the home as unusual, noting that such activity could be driven by a range of factors, including new information tied to the ransom note, emerging leads, or requests from the family.

On Sunday, Feb. 8, authorities were also observed at Nancy’s home. Deputies and vehicles from the PCSD were present as investigators used a pole to probe a manhole located behind the house, according to drone images shared by Fox News’ Sarah Rumpf-Whitten on X.

In an update released Sunday morning, the PCSD said there are currently no suspects or persons of interest in the case.

“The Nancy Guthrie investigation is ongoing,” the department stated. “Follow-up continues at multiple locations. No suspects, persons of interest, or vehicles have been identified. No scheduled press briefings.”

The department added that a press conference would be held if significant developments occur.

Authorities are also continuing to examine an alleged ransom note sent to media outlets. FBI Phoenix Special Agent in Charge Heith Janke previously said the sender set an initial deadline of 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5. He added that if the transfer was not made, a second demand was issued for the following Monday. That second deadline is now set for Feb. 9.

On Friday, Feb. 6, the FBI acknowledged receiving a new message potentially connected to Nancy’s disappearance. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said investigators were actively reviewing the information to determine its authenticity.

In a video message posted Feb. 8, Savannah Guthrie addressed the person believed to be holding her mother, sitting alongside siblings Annie and Camron. “We received your message and we understand,” she said, before pleading for Nancy’s safe return and emphasizing that the family is willing to pay to be reunited with her.

Nancy was initially reported missing on Sunday, Feb. 1, after she failed to attend church. Law enforcement soon launched a large-scale investigation, stating they believe she was taken against her will.

Authorities have said Nancy was last seen on the evening of Jan. 31, when her son-in-law, Cioni, dropped her off at her home after dinner with him and Annie. Investigators later confirmed that what appeared to be blood was found on the front steps of the house and identified as hers. Parts of a Ring camera had also been removed from the front door area.
