President Donald Trump set off fresh calls for the 25th Amendment on Tuesday after unleashing a rapid-fire, late-morning posting spree that critics described as erratic and self-contradictory.

Trump, 79, posted 33 times in 45 minutes, claiming he “has done more for NATO” than anyone, amplifying conspiracies about Dominion voting machines, revisiting non-existent voter fraud claims, and sharing a clip of his 2017 inaugural address, among other posts.

The burst of activity came as Trump continues to threaten a major rupture with long-standing European allies, including by demanding the United States seize Greenland from Denmark—an escalation that prompted immediate backlash and renewed debate about his fitness for office.

“Are we watching a real-time mental health crisis with Trump?” former Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger posted on BlueSky shortly after the barrage ended. “Seriously.”

Among the posts Trump shared was a screenshot from a user named “Bobby D” arguing that America’s true adversaries are not China and Russia, but the “enemy within,” NATO, and the United Nations. The same post also included Islamophobic rhetoric; critics pointed to Trump’s decision to elevate it as another sign of dangerous judgment.

The screenshot circulated widely online, fueling demands that Vice President JD Vance and Trump’s Cabinet invoke the 25th Amendment by declaring him unable to carry out his duties. While Congress—currently controlled by Republicans—can also establish a body to trigger the amendment, there is no precedent for such a move.

Republicans have offered no indication they are considering it. That has not stopped Trump critics from urging action. Democratic lawmakers, including California Sen. Ed Markey, have publicly called for the amendment to be used.

Under the 25th Amendment, removing a president would require Congress to ratify the decision within 21 days after receiving notice from the vice president and Cabinet.

Online reaction to Tuesday’s posts was swift. One BlueSky user wrote that Trump should be removed before he “destroys the United States.” Others called for Congress to invoke the 25th Amendment or begin impeachment proceedings, framing the situation as urgent.

Some commenters urged lawmakers to act while Trump is abroad, noting he is expected to travel to Switzerland to address the World Economic Forum and is scheduled to leave Washington on Tuesday.

Progressive writer Timothy Noah also criticized Trump’s Cabinet for treating recent episodes as normal—pointing to Trump’s reported threats toward allies and inflammatory claims as further reason, he argued, to consider “rapid activation” of the 25th Amendment rather than continuing to downplay the situation.
