An arrest warrant has been issued for Fast & Furious star Tyrese Gibson after a Georgia neighbor accused his four dogs of fatally attacking a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, according to police.
On Sept. 18, authorities received a 911 call from Harrison Parker, who lives across from the actor’s Buckhead mansion. Parker told police that doorbell camera footage captured the dogs shortly after the alleged attack, reports WSB-TV 2, 11Alive.com, and Fox5 Atlanta.
Parker said he had let his dog into his yard, which was secured with an invisible fence, and discovered him dead shortly after from what appeared to be an animal attack, WSB–TV 2 reports. His 5-year-old dog, Henry, suffered internal bleeding and puncture wounds, court documents state.
“I found my dog dead in my driveway,” Parker told WSB–TV 2. “Not hearing him around, it’s just awful. He was one of the sweetest dogs, and to have him get murdered is indescribable.”
Police executed a search warrant at Gibson’s home on Sept. 22 to check on the actor and his dogs, but he was not present, according to Fox5. Court documents indicate that Gibson had previously stated he would surrender the dogs to Animal Services, but he was gone when authorities arrived, 11Alive reports.
Authorities allege that Gibson’s Cane Corso dogs attacked the much smaller spaniel, Fox5 reports, and that the dogs had been roaming freely in the neighborhood, 11Alive reports.
“It is the negligence on his part as the homeowner and animal owner, just letting them roam free,” said Capt. Nicole Dwyer of Fulton County Police Animal Services. “And now they have killed an innocent animal.”
In a statement, Gibson’s attorney Gabe Banks said the actor extended his condolences to his neighbor and had made the “difficult decision” to rehome the dogs.
“Mr. Tyrese Gibson extends his deepest condolences to the family who lost their beloved dog to this tragic incident that occurred while Mr. Gibson was away from his home,” Banks said. “Upon learning of this unfortunate accident, Mr. Gibson immediately made the difficult decision to rehome his dogs to a safe and loving environment.”
“Concerning the misdemeanor warrant, Mr. Gibson is cooperating fully with authorities to address and resolve this matter responsibly. Mr. Gibson asks for privacy and understanding as this matter is handled through the appropriate legal channels and remains committed to the safety of his community and the well-being of all animals.”
