Former U.S. President Barack Obama is set to take the stage for two live interviews this September, offering personal reflections on his time in the White House and his thoughts on America’s future.
The 63-year-old, who made history as the first Black president of the United States in 2009, will appear at London’s The O2 on September 24 for a conversation with British historian and broadcaster David Olusoga. Two days later, on September 26, he will be interviewed by acclaimed Irish journalist Fintan O’Toole at Dublin’s 3Arena.
Titled “An Evening With President Barack Obama,” the events promise rare, candid insights from the former president on leadership, global challenges, and the enduring power of hope and unity.
In a joint statement, Stuart Galbraith (CEO of Kilimanjaro Live) and Alex Fane (CEO of Fane Group), the event organizers, said:
“We are incredibly honoured to bring President Obama to the UK and Ireland for these truly special events. His message of unity and progress resonates deeply, and we anticipate evenings that will inspire and empower everyone in attendance.”
They added that the events align with their mission to create impactful, thought-provoking experiences:
“We believe in providing exceptional moments that bring people together — and this is exactly that.”
Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 10. In a move to broaden accessibility, 100 tickets in each city will be reserved for local charitable organisations.
Since leaving office in 2017, Obama has continued to influence global discourse through storytelling. Alongside his wife Michelle, he launched Higher Ground Productions, a content company partnered with Netflix, producing acclaimed documentaries and feature films. In 2022, he won an Emmy for Best Narrator for his work on Our Great National Parks, and he is also a two-time Grammy winner for audiobook readings of his memoirs The Audacity of Hope and Dreams From My Father.
Obama also co-hosted the 2021 podcast Renegades: Born in the USA with musician Bruce Springsteen — a project that was later turned into a bestselling book.
With these two new live appearances, audiences in the UK and Ireland will have a rare opportunity to hear directly from one of the most influential leaders of the 21st century.
