Authorities in Milwaukee are investigating the death of a 31-year-old woman who was found fatally shot in an alley just hours after her young son was discovered wandering the streets alone.
According to reports from WISN, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and TMJ 4, the body of Anya Raymond was found with multiple gunshot wounds around 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5.
Several hours earlier, at approximately 4 a.m., a boy believed to be about 5 or 6 years old was found barefoot and lost roughly three miles from the scene of the shooting, Milwaukee police said. Officials later confirmed that the child was related to Raymond but did not specify the relationship.
A GoFundMe campaign organized by Raymond’s family later identified the boy as her son.
Social media activity linked to Raymond’s Facebook account revealed a series of cryptic posts in the days before her death.

On Oct. 29, she wrote, “I ain’t wanna leave on bad terms now s**t [going to] get super bad tryna go low or I’m [going to] go to hell,” adding, “videos pics the whole nine & make sure I explain why we fell out.”
In another post on Oct. 31, she wrote, “Always one step ahead I’m gonna have him my way 4sure.”
Her final public post, made two days before her body was found, read simply: “Check mate. Talking about kids is insane but god dont (sic) like ugly.”
It remains unclear who the posts were directed toward.
Milwaukee police confirmed that the young boy has since been reunited with his family. The investigation into Raymond’s death is ongoing, and no suspects or persons of interest have been publicly identified.
