TIPP CITY, Ohio — Authorities in Ohio have released graphic bodycam footage detailing the immediate response to the fatal shooting of Ashley Flynn, the 37-year-old wife of former American Idol contestant Caleb Flynn.
The footage, made public on Monday, March 2, provides a harrowing look at the scene on February 16, 2026, when officers arrived at the couple’s Cunningham Court residence. Caleb Flynn, 39, who reported the death as a botched burglary, was arrested three days later and now faces charges of murder, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence.
Responding Officers Envisioned a ‘Grieving’ Husband
The newly released video from the Tipp City Police Department captures a chaotic and emotional scene. Caleb Flynn is heard screaming “Oh my God” repeatedly as officers enter the home. Throughout the recording, which is blurred for privacy inside the residence, Flynn appears to hyperventilate, sobs uncontrollably, and at one point, asks an officer, “Is she gone?”
The footage also documents Flynn’s phone call to his mother shortly after the discovery. “Ashley’s dead,” he wails into the phone. “Mommy, she’s gone… I don’t know what to do.” Minutes later, the footage shows Flynn becoming physically ill and vomiting as investigators begin processing the scene.
Outside the home, Flynn is seen collapsing to the ground as a relative arrives. He tells the woman, identified as the children’s grandmother, “The girls don’t know,” referring to the couple’s two young daughters who were inside the home at the time of the shooting.

From Witness to Suspect: The Investigation’s Shift
While the initial 911 call placed at 2:31 a.m. reported a home invasion and burglary, investigators quickly turned their attention toward the 12th-season American Idol alum.
Tipp City Police Chief Greg Adkins noted that the investigation, which involved the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and the FBI, moved at a “deliberate pace” as evidence of a staged crime scene began to emerge. Prosecutors allege that Flynn shot his wife twice and subsequently tampered with evidence to support the narrative of a mysterious intruder.
“The family and community deserve a thorough, professional, and compassionate investigation,” Chief Adkins said in a statement following the arrest. “Probable cause existed to charge Caleb Flynn with the murder of his wife.”
Legacy of a ‘Beloved’ Educator
The killing has devastated the tight-knit Tipp City community. Ashley Flynn was a prominent figure, serving as a substitute teacher and a seventh-grade girls’ volleyball coach at Tippecanoe Middle School.
A GoFundMe campaign established to support the couple’s daughters has already surpassed $80,000, reflecting the community’s outpouring of support for a woman described by colleagues as “full of light and kindness.”
What’s Next in the Case
Caleb Flynn has pleaded not guilty to all charges. His defense attorney, Patrick Mulligan, has publicly criticized the police response, suggesting a “rush to judgment” when investigators could not identify an external suspect.
Flynn remains held at the Miami County Jail on a $2 million bond. A preliminary hearing, originally scheduled for late February, has been moved to late March 2026, where a judge will determine if there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial.
