A new bride said she was “furious” when she found out that one of her bridesmaids had “hijacked” her wedding photographer to take professional headshots for herself.

The bride shared the story on Reddit’s Bridezillas forum. She said she only discovered what happened after the wedding while looking through the photos.

“One of my bridesmaids, after we did all the traditional wedding pictures and my husband and I joined the reception cocktail hour, whipped out a blazer, put it over her dress, and proceeded to have the bridal photographer take ‘just a few’ work headshots for her… for at least 15 minutes,” she explained.

Because of this, she said, “our wedding pictures for the short cocktail hour are noticeably skimpy.”

The bride added that the bridesmaid’s actions left her “furious.”

“That wedding photographer was EXPENSIVE, but more importantly that was just so rude!!!” she wrote, asking other Reddit users, “Has anyone else dealt with this? Should I send her an invoice?”

Many commenters agreed that the bridesmaid acted selfishly, but they also said the photographer was partly at fault.

“You need to talk to the photographer. That was very unprofessional and inappropriate,” one person advised. Another added, “Take it up with the photographer. It’s unacceptable and you should AT LEAST get credit for the time they weren’t taking your pictures.”

“Demand a partial refund,” another user suggested.

A commenter who works as a photographer shared their perspective. “You need to take this up with your photographer. This was unacceptable for them to do,” they wrote. “If a couple asks me ‘can you snap a quick picture of us,’ of course I always do as long as it won’t stop me from taking important shots. But a 15-minute photo shoot with an outfit change is beyond inappropriate.”

As for the bridesmaid, commenters said the bride should either refuse to give her the headshots or ask her to pay for them. “You own those photos,” one person said.

They also suggested that the bride rethink her friendship with the bridesmaid after such “entitled” behavior.

Another commenter joked, “I wonder how much photoshopping it will take to edit out the bridesmaid’s ginormous cojones.”
