Evrosina Awad-Parent knew exactly what she wanted when it came to her wedding-day look: she wanted to feel like herself.
As she planned everything from makeup to accessories, the 23-year-old noticed a common expectation placed on brides — many are encouraged to ditch their glasses for the ceremony and photos. She decided to do the opposite.
“I was inspired to wear my glasses because I’ve always worn them since I was 10 years old,” she said. “My main priority when planning my wedding look was to be comfortable, and part of that meant being myself. I’m not myself without my glasses.”
She added that wearing them felt natural, not optional.
“For over a decade, I have woken up and put them first; it would’ve been strange not to do that on my wedding day,” she said. “It felt great to feel like I could be authentically myself and still feel as beautiful as I have ever felt.”

After getting ready, the Boston resident posted a TikTok video of the moment, writing: “When you get married, everyone will tell you not to wear your glasses … It’s very important you don’t listen.”
The clip quickly took off, pulling in more than 1.4 million views — and a wide range of opinions.
“Some people were concerned about photos or makeup, but others were really supportive because they knew this was very much me,” she said.
She originally expected the post to reach only a handful of people.
“I hadn’t seen many brides with glasses, so I thought it would be a fun little trend that only a few people would see, but it blew up,” she said. “Seeing all the brides in the comments who said they were going to wear glasses or had dropped their photos in the comments was insane!”
Not every reaction was kind. A few commenters claimed the glasses “ruined” the look — but she says they actually completed it.

“At the end of the day, it’s my look — each bride should be who they are and do what feels like them,” she said.
Her message to other brides is simple: choose what feels true to you.
“I felt like myself on my wedding day, and looking back on my pictures, I see the true me,” she said. “If wearing your glasses makes you feel like you, then just do it — it’s your wedding, be you!”
