As the holiday season approaches, Britney Spears is taking a moment to look inward and honor how far she’s come.
After reactivating her Instagram account on Nov. 7, the 43-year-old pop icon posted a thoughtful message on Saturday, Nov. 29, reflecting on listening to her inner child and how “good things” can grow out of difficult experiences. The message originally appeared as a long caption alongside a video of her dancing to Adele’s “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” and mouthing lyrics like, “We’ve gotta let go of all of our ghosts / We both know we ain’t kids no more.”
“Haven’t found my party dress for this year 👗… Reflecting is good for the soul… Sometimes when hard things happen, good things come from it and we learn… I learned that a real note of expression with emotion speaks volumes for us all!!” she began.
Spears then shifted to the importance of staying connected to one’s inner child.
“Call it childish, silly, annoying… We grow up to become women but do you dare keep the most sensitive part of the soul and allow it to rebel… the child within must speak in the most vulnerable of times,” she wrote.
She followed with a meditation on grief and resilience, seemingly nodding to the title of her bestselling memoir, The Woman in Me.
“Sadness and darkness survive to make an understanding of losing someone and of the hurt and pain…,” she continued. “Sometimes through suffering and ugliness and sacrifice, extremely rare and beautiful things can be manifested and shared that can touch another person so they understand they are not alone… and yet the woman in me will make sure I find my destination.”
To close out the original caption, the “Gimme More” singer added a lighthearted postscript about overindulging at Thanksgiving.
“PS I can’t even look at food after this Thanksgiving… I cheated I was so bad…,” she admitted, “but it felt so damn good… forgive me father.”
By Sunday, Nov. 30, Spears had edited the caption down to a much simpler thought: “I felt pretty in that bathing suit 👙🌹🤷🏼♀️ … psss gotta find those Mary Jane shoes,” she wrote.
Spears’ newest Instagram reflection comes shortly after her return to the platform earlier this month. She previously deactivated her account on Nov. 2 amid a public clash with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, surrounding his memoir You Thought You Knew.

The apparent deactivation followed growing fan concern as Spears continued posting dance videos while disabling comments and pairing them with cryptic captions about her sons, Jayden James, 19, and Sean Preston, 20.
A representative for Spears responded to Federline’s book and its claims in a statement shared publicly on Oct. 14.
“With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin,” the statement said. “All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir.”
