Brooklyn Beckham alleges that ahead of his wedding to Nicola Peltz Beckham, his parents tried to pressure — and even bribe — him into “signing away the rights” to his name.

In a series of Instagram Stories shared Monday, Jan. 19, the 26-year-old addressed his ongoing estrangement from parents David and Victoria Beckham and said the alleged push intensified in the run-up to his 2022 wedding.

“Weeks before our big day, my parents repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children,” Brooklyn wrote.

He claimed his parents wanted the paperwork signed before the wedding because, according to him, the terms would then take effect. “They were adamant on me signing before my wedding date because then the terms of the deal would be initiated,” he continued, adding that his refusal “affected the payday” and changed the way they treated him.

Brooklyn also claimed his parents had been trying to damage his relationship with Nicola “since before my wedding,” and said the tension carried into the wedding itself. He alleged that during the reception, his mother “hijacked” his first dance with Nicola and “danced very inappropriately” with him in front of roughly 500 guests. He also alleged his mother “cancelled making” Nicola’s wedding dress.

He further claimed conflict extended to other relatives as well, writing that on the night before the wedding, members of his family told him Nicola was “not blood” and “not family.”

Brooklyn also accused his parents of controlling public narratives around the family for much of his life, describing what he called “performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships” as part of what he grew up around. In another post, he wrote that his family prioritizes “public promotion and endorsements,” adding: “Brand Beckham comes first.”

A representative for David and Victoria did not respond to a request for comment.

Brooklyn’s posts come after months of reported strain across the broader Beckham family, including claims of being blocked on social media and the couple’s absence from several family gatherings.

After Brooklyn and Nicola were absent from David Beckham’s 50th birthday celebrations in 2025, a source close to the family said, “The relationship is definitely not beyond repair.” The source added that David and Victoria “love and are always there for [Brooklyn],” but were “hurt and disappointed that he’s now playing no part in family life.”

More recently, a source with knowledge of the situation said David and Victoria have asked Brooklyn and Nicola to meet in hopes of moving forward.

In his Jan. 19 posts, however, Brooklyn wrote that he does “not want to reconcile with my family.”
