In less than a week, two school buses from Cleveland Independent School District (ISD) in Texas have crashed along FM 1010.

The most recent accident happened on Wednesday morning, August 13, around 7 a.m. A bus carrying 58 elementary school students rolled over near the intersection of FM 1010 and County Road 347, landing on its side. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.

Photos from the scene show children with parents, some in tears and others on stretchers. Cleveland ISD said in a statement that all students were quickly removed from the bus and given medical attention. Emergency crews evaluated them at a local hospital “out of an abundance of caution.” Parents were contacted immediately.

The district said it will investigate the crash and stressed that “student safety is always our highest priority.”

Parent Marisol Castillo told KHOU 11 she was worried about letting her children ride the bus after witnessing the scene. “It was concerning because I put them as bus riders, and now I’m thinking about it,” she said.

This was the second crash in just three days. On Monday, August 11, another Cleveland ISD bus carrying high school and ninth-grade students tipped into a ditch about two miles from Wednesday’s crash site. Thirty-six of the 59 students on that bus had minor injuries, such as bumps and bruises, and were taken to the hospital for evaluation.
