Sophia Hutchins, a longtime friend and former manager of Caitlyn Jenner, has died at the age of 29 following a tragic ATV accident near Jenner’s residence in Malibu.
According to law enforcement, Hutchins was riding an ATV on a road close to Jenner’s home when she collided with the rear of a moving vehicle. The impact caused her to lose control, sending the ATV plunging 350 feet into a nearby ravine. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but Hutchins was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the other vehicle were not injured. Jenner was not present at the time of the incident.
A Bond That Began in 2015
Hutchins first met Jenner in 2015, the same year Jenner publicly came out as transgender. While she made brief appearances on Jenner’s reality show I Am Cait, Hutchins mostly stayed behind the scenes, serving as Jenner’s manager and close confidante.
Entrepreneur and Advocate
Born on April 1, 1996, in Bellevue, Washington, Hutchins graduated from Pepperdine University in 2019 with a degree in economics and finance. She went on to found LUMASOL, a health-tech company focused on skincare and sun protection.
In a 2020 interview with Medium, she reflected on her journey:
“Don’t be afraid of the word no,” she said. “Successful people, entrepreneurs, and women more than anyone else are told no all the time. If we allowed ‘no’ to deter us, we wouldn’t be where we are today.”
She also shared her hopes for the future: “I’m ready to continue to grow and surround myself with positive, uplifting people who believe in me, my ability to execute, and my vision for the future.”
