A family is grieving the loss of Giovanni “Mike” Robinson, 32, who was shot and killed while on a golfing trip in Wisconsin with loved ones.

Robinson, from Ontario, Canada, was identified by the Sheboygan Falls Police Department in a press release on Thursday, Sept. 25.

According to authorities, the shooting occurred on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at around 12:08 a.m. local time in the 600 Block of Monroe Street. While a suspect has not been identified, police reported the individual was driving a small, dark-colored SUV. The motive remains unclear.

“To maintain the integrity of the ongoing investigation, limited details will be released at this time,” the department said.

Jacob Robinson, Giovanni’s brother, told WTMJ-TV 4 that Giovanni was walking back to his hotel after celebrating his first hole-in-one at Whistling Straits Golf Course with dinner and drinks when he was shot.

Just a month earlier, Giovanni welcomed his first child, a daughter named Farrah Margaret Robinson, with his wife Rachel.

“He was a very good man, and he was an awesome brother. He was an even better husband,” Jacob said. “And he was going to be an amazing dad. He was excited to be a father.”

“Just this senseless act has taken away so many aspects. Not only a brother, but a son and a husband, and now my little niece — she’s only 5 weeks old — and she’s never really going to ever know her true father,” he added.

Jacob emphasized that he wants his brother’s name remembered and justice for his death.

A GoFundMe fundraiser organized by Amanda and Daniella Apostolakos notes that “Authorities are doing their best to catch the monster that took his life.”

The cousins recalled Giovanni’s passion for hockey. He played in the Ontario Hockey League and spent time in Germany with the Hannover Scorpions.

“He was a true family man, always making sure to spend every spare second that he could with them. Even when he couldn’t be around physically, he would make sure he was there through FaceTime to be part of every event and gathering. Nothing filled a room like his smile and quick wit,” they wrote.

They also shared his love story with his wife Rachel, whom he met in 2017 and married in 2022. Friends and family say Giovanni was eagerly anticipating fatherhood.

“Mike was so excited to become a father, constantly asking family and friends questions and looking for advice to prepare so that he would be ready. He was the proudest when Farrah arrived, showing her off with the biggest smile you could ever imagine,” his family said.

“He dove right into his new role of ‘Dad’ and was a natural, just like we all knew he would be. It is the most heartbreaking to know he will never be able to hold his baby girl again.”

The Sheboygan Falls Police Department is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them at 920-467-7902.
