A Texas man is accused of approaching an 11-year-old girl while wearing nothing but a diaper and asking her to change it.
Police say Wesley Worl, 45, has been charged with criminal solicitation of a minor in connection with the July 29 incident.
Authorities report that the child was riding her bicycle near Andy Woods Elementary in Tyler just before 6 p.m. when Worl, dressed only in a diaper with a pacifier around his neck, allegedly stepped out of his truck, made baby-like sounds, and requested a diaper change.
“I guess he had seen her riding her bicycle and had pulled in to kind of get ahead of her into the parking lot of the school,” said Andy Erbaugh, public information officer with the Tyler Police Department, in a statement to PEOPLE. “And when she approached on her bicycle, he jumped out and his words were ‘goo goo gaa gaa. I need you to change my diaper.’”
The girl immediately left the area and sought help from nearby witnesses.
“They knew her,” Erbaugh explained. “They contacted her parents, who went over there and called police right away.”
According to police, the girl was “quite shaken” by the encounter.
Afterward, Worl allegedly got back into his truck and drove away, but a witness noted part of his license plate number. Investigators also obtained surveillance video of his vehicle.
“We got a description of him, and we put two and two together and looked, found it was Wesley Worl, got warrants on him and arrested him,” Erbaugh said.
Worl also faces a misdemeanor criminal trespass charge from a separate incident. He is currently being held in the Smith County Jail on a $600,000 bond.
