Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a prominent anti-Trump voice in Congress, is facing a blistering report portraying her as a “diva” who mistreats staff members.
According to the New York Post, several congressional aides who have worked for or with Crockett, 44, described her as “rude” and rarely present in her Washington, D.C., office unless cameras are rolling.
“She is laying around her apartment, won’t come into the office, and is really just indifferent to staff and will scream at them,” one former aide told the outlet, claiming she is “never in the office” and “very disengaged.” The same staffer added that Crockett “freaks out over the most random things.”
Another source said it is “widely known” that Crockett mistreats staff and is “focused almost exclusively on being an influencer.”
Crockett, who has represented Texas in Congress since 2023, frequently goes viral for her sharp criticism of Donald Trump, calling him a “piece of s***” and an “enemy to the United States.” She is also known for delivering viral moments during committee hearings.
The report alleges that Crockett often works from a luxury office building instead of her congressional office and requires staffers to drive her short distances in a rented vehicle rather than their own cars. Staffers are reportedly told the rental “has to be an Escalade” or similar, and they are expected to open the door for her.
“The staff is really just an island unto itself, because she doesn’t care about the local issues happening in her district,” a source told the New York Post. “She’s more focused on, ‘Get me on The View,’ ‘Get me on this late-night talk show.’”
Crockett drew criticism last year for using the term “butch” to describe GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s appearance. According to the report, some gay staffers in her office objected, but Crockett dismissed their concerns, allegedly saying, “That’s not offensive. You’re stupid if you think so.”
The New York Post also reported that Crockett’s office has seen high turnover due to a “toxic staff environment,” with some Black female staffers feeling disempowered. At one point, she allegedly made a staffer cry by asking, “Do you really want to be here? And if not, you can leave!”
Earlier this year, Crockett was criticized after reportedly cutting ahead of two passengers in wheelchairs while boarding a flight — an incident a source described as reflective of “the type of person she is.” The source claimed she is “interpersonally very rude and doesn’t get along well with people.”
