One educator’s dream of sharing her wedding with her students came true in the most unforgettable way.

Brianna Lanoye, the founding principal of the Buffalo Academy of Science Charter School in Buffalo, New York, had always wanted her wedding to include her school community — but she thought it would be “near impossible to do,” according to ABC News. On what seemed like a typical school day, that wish came true thanks to her students and colleagues.

On Oct. 3, assistant principal Courtney Champlin told Lanoye they were attending a school function. Instead, Champlin handed her a white bouquet and a veil before guiding her outside — where the courtyard had been transformed into a wedding venue, complete with an altar and floral decorations.

Waiting for her were all the students, from pre-K through fourth grade, gathered to witness their principal “say I do” to her fiancé, Zach.

Champlin, with the help of Zach and the school staff, organized the surprise celebration, and the moment moved Lanoye to tears.
“Instant tears,” she told local outlet WKBW. “It was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, just seeing our school community out here.”

Student representatives from each grade joined a procession to walk Lanoye down the aisle, where Zach was waiting.
“Just having him there as part of our school community — it was really beautiful,” she said.

A student officiated the ceremony, and others gave heartfelt speeches about the impact Lanoye had made in their lives.
“I want to personally thank you for all you did for me,” one student said. “I will never forget the difference you have made in my life.”

Lanoye said hearing her students’ reflections was deeply moving.
“I firmly believe there’s no better truth than our students’ words,” she shared. “To hear them share their reflections was really powerful. They did such a good job, and we always want to elevate student voices.”

The bride and groom exchanged candy rings, followed by joyful dancing and celebration.
“I was completely overwhelmed with joy and emotion,” Lanoye told WKBW. “To see the love and effort the students and team poured into this for me was one of the most touching moments of my life. This is a day I will truly never forget. They are all a part of my family.”

Lanoye and Zach later celebrated their official wedding on Oct. 12 — coincidentally, also held on school grounds.
