Ghislaine Maxwell, convicted of child sex trafficking and once closely associated with Jeffrey Epstein, has been moved to Camp Bryan, a minimum-security federal prison camp located in Bryan, Texas. She is currently serving a 20-year sentence.
The Bureau of Prisons did not provide a specific reason for Maxwell’s transfer, which comes shortly after a meeting between her and top officials at the Department of Justice. Maxwell had previously been incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Tallahassee, Florida.
“We can confirm Ghislaine Maxwell is in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons at the Federal Prison Camp (FPC) Bryan in Bryan, Texas,” a Bureau spokesperson said, according to Axios.
FPC Bryan is a minimum-security facility for female inmates, located roughly 100 miles northwest of Houston. It currently houses several notable inmates, including Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes and Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast member Jen Shah.
Maxwell was convicted for recruiting and grooming underage girls for Epstein to abuse. Her transfer to FPC Bryan marks a significant change in environment from the Florida facility where she had been held.
Elizabeth Holmes is currently serving an 11-year, three-month sentence at FPC Bryan. Convicted of fraud and conspiracy in connection to the failed Theranos blood-testing startup, Holmes was sentenced in November 2022 and began her prison term in May 2023.
Jen Shah, known for her role on Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, is serving a 6.5-year sentence for her role in a nationwide telemarketing scheme that defrauded elderly victims out of millions. She pleaded guilty in 2022 and began her sentence in February 2023. Shah could be released as early as August 2028 with credit for good behavior.
