A former Little Caesars employee in North Carolina has been arrested after police say he broke into a restaurant, made pizzas, sold them to customers, and kept the money.

The Kinston Police Department said in a Facebook post that officers responded Sunday to a breaking-and-entering incident at a Little Caesars location. Investigators allege 41-year-old Jonathon Hackett, who previously worked at the restaurant, unlawfully entered the business on two separate occasions.

Police said that during the first incident, Hackett allegedly went inside, prepared pizzas, sold them to customers, and kept the proceeds.

According to WITN, warrants state he sold 10 pizzas and pocketed $50.

Authorities said the second incident escalated when Hackett allegedly broke into the restaurant while employees were inside.

“Employees attempted to prevent Hackett from entering, which resulted in a physical altercation,” police said.

Hackett was treated at UNC Lenoir for injuries sustained during the altercation, then taken into custody and transported to the Lenoir County Jail, authorities said.

He is being held in the Lenoir County Jail and faces multiple charges, including breaking and/or entering (felony), obtaining property by false pretenses (felony), larceny after breaking and entering (felony), and breaking and entering (misdemeanor).

Police also charged Hackett with violating the city’s curfew, which was in place due to the winter storm. Per WITN, his bond is set at $50,000.

“It was very strange, you know, it’s nothing I’d ever heard of,” Kinston Police Chief Keith Goyette told the outlet. “It’s nothing we’ve ever seen, you know, in my 26 years of law enforcement here in Kinston. So, this was a head scratcher and a first for us.”
