Florida Rep. Maxwell Alejandro Frost said he was racially harassed and assaulted while attending a private party during the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
Frost, 29, attended talent agency CAA’s Sundance Film Festival Celebration at High West Saloon on Friday, Jan. 23, according to reports from Variety and CNN. In an Instagram post on Jan. 24, Frost said a man made racist comments and then attacked him.
“Last night, I was assaulted by a man at Sundance Festival who told me that Trump was going to deport me before he punched me in the face,” Frost wrote. “He was heard screaming racist remarks as he drunkenly ran off. The individual was arrested and I am okay.”
He added that he appreciated the help from venue security and Park City police.

Park City Police Department officials said a suspect they identified as Christian Young allegedly assaulted Frost and a woman at the private event. Police said Young unlawfully entered the party and carried out the alleged attacks after being turned away earlier.
Frost included a screenshot of a Variety report about the incident in his post. A source quoted in that report claimed the confrontation happened in the restroom area, where Young allegedly shouted remarks about being “white” before striking Frost as he left the bathroom.

Police said Young was arrested and booked on charges of aggravated burglary and two counts of simple assault, with each charge subject to a sentencing enhancement.
Sundance Film Festival organizers also issued a statement condemning the alleged assault, according to Variety. They said the incident occurred at a non-festival-affiliated event but called the reported behavior unacceptable and inconsistent with the festival’s values.
“The safety and security of our festival attendees is always our chief concern,” the statement said, adding that anyone with information should contact Park City police.
